KAUKOKAIPUU. Rifrazioni dell’altrove

Kaukokaipuu – Rifrazioni dell’altrove is a dance and voice performance. It is based on a site-specific research project for urban landscapes. This piece was created in collaboration with sound designer Jacopo Cerolini.

Kaukokaipuu is a Finnish word. It refers to a longing for a distant place. This place is one never visited, yet somehow deeply felt as home.

A locus, then: a place both physical and metaphysical. It is real and internal. It is a place where space and time take on the dimension of the unconscious.

A single presence on stage—both tangible and elusive. A work serves as an evocation or a ritual. It creates for a place other than here and carries its own sense of solemnity. This is an experience to be perceived through the subtle senses of being. It connects us to what lies beyond the self.

Ph Francesco Coccolo

In Kaukokaipuu, the body becomes a vehicle for evoking an invisible yet existing ecosystem. It transforms into a living, breathing landscape. This is expanded through the live, reworked soundscape of Jacopo Cerolini.
